poolcntrl

Pricing

$5.99 a month, or $49.99 a year.

Free is genuinely free and permanent — it is just not a place to keep your pool. Pro is where poolcntrl remembers your water and does the thinking between tests.

Every new account gets a 2-week free trial — the whole app, nothing held back, no card needed. Subscribe when it ends, or don’t: the dosing calculator stays free forever, with or without an account.

“The pool store tests my water for free.”

True — and it is a good deal. The test costs nothing, a real person reads it, you get your numbers the same day, and if you have been going a few seasons they know your pool and they know your water. Nothing below is an argument for not going.

It is a good test. It is just not a system, and three things follow from that.

  • The test is free because it sits at the front of the chemical aisle. That is not a trick — it is how a store keeps the lights on. But the person reading your sample also sells the answer, and you cannot fully separate the two. poolcntrl sells no chemicals, links to no retailer and takes no commission on anything it tells you to add. The subscription is the only thing we sell, which is why the engine is free to tell you the least profitable answer there is: nothing, your water is fine.
  • You test when the store is open, not when your water changes.Saturday at ten is the store’s cadence, not your pool’s. poolcntrl reads the test you just took and sets the next one from what it found — a few hours after a chlorine correction, about a week when nothing needs fixing — and it tells you on your phone instead of waiting for you to remember.
  • Nothing is written down between visits.Next Saturday’s sample turns up with no memory of last Saturday’s, so every trip starts from zero and so does the advice. poolcntrl keeps every test, dose and note against your pool, and measures your next reading against the dose you logged — so you find out whether what you added actually worked, rather than guessing again.

So keep going to the store. A second opinion on your water is never a bad thing, and a counter test is a good way to check a strip you are unsure about. This is for the other six days — when the counter is closed and the water is changing anyway.

Ready when you are.

Try the calculator first if you like — it uses the same chemistry engine as the app. When you want poolcntrl to remember your pool, the trial is a tap away.

And it goes quiet in the off-season: mark the pool closed and the reminders stop until you reopen, so a year of poolcntrl is never a year of being nagged about water under a cover.

Your 2-week free trial needs no card and charges nothing — when it ends, access simply returns to the free calculator unless you subscribe. Subscriptions are purchased inside the app through your App Store account, not on this website. Prices shown are in US dollars; your store may show local pricing and taxes. New subscriptions also start with the App Store’s own 2-week free trial before the first charge. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can cancel any time in your App Store settings.
